Veteran Roy Vanasco
The Conservancy extends our deep sympathy with sharing the news of the passing of WWII Veteran Roy Vanasco.
Roy and his brother Jack were longtime community activists and champions leading the community to reopen the Brooklyn War Memorial. We have so many wonderful memories of their love and meaningful contributions to our park and community. RIP Roy Vanasco, always in our hearts. The Conservancy remembers you with love, respect and an abundance of gratitude.
If you would like to make a donation in honor of Roy Vanasco, we will be planting in his memory, in our Brooklyn Memorial Garden.

Giving Tuesday
Happy December, Happy Giving Tuesday!
Please consider making an end of year donation to the Cadman Park Conservancy. Contributions will go towards our continued planting of native perennials in Cadman Plaza Park. We appreciate you, our park community. This is an opportunity to give back to our park. Every contribution is meaningful to the Conservancy and will go a long way.

Athletic Field
Sharing the Athletic Field: A Community Effort
The Athletic Field is for everyone! New signs will soon define passive and active sports areas during soccer games.
Concerns about children’s play being disrupted by adult leagues are being addressed. The Park Supervisor will monitor the field this weekend to ensure it stays welcoming for all.
Thank you for helping keep our park enjoyable!

Thank you!
This past Sunday, Cadman Park Conservancy and The Service Collective volunteers spread mulch, planted daffodil bulbs, and cleared leaves in Juneteenth Grove. Thanks to everyone who helped care for our park—your support makes a big difference!

Volunteer Gardening
The Conservancy Wednesday Gardening Volunteers ended for 2024 this week.
The Cadman Park Conservancy thanks NYC Parks Gardener Jessica Kulig for leading the gardeners and all of our volunteers for gardening and taking care of the park. The generosity of your time and help has made a significant impact in our community. We wholeheartedly thank you and look forward to seeing you again in the Spring!

Volunteers!
We hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather and are spending some of your time in the park! The Conservancy was happy to host student volunteers from the Service Collective last Tuesday afternoon. The volunteers planted daffodils along the east fence of the park, along Cadman Park East. We look forward to seeing the results of their work in the beginning of Spring! Thank you for planting with us! We appreciate your help!!

Last Thursday afternoon, student volunteers from St. Francis College joined us for a wonderful afternoon. It was a gorgeous day. Volunteers planted native perennials in both Juneteenth Grove and along the fenced in area on the northeast side of the park adjacent to the Brooklyn War Memorial. The weather was spectacular!
Over the summer, our SYEP (student youth employment program) interns planned newly planted areas after researching soil, native plants and their locations under the supervision of NYC Parks and Recreation gardeners: Jessica Kulig and Ketsia Furvilas. Their internships ended in August and it was not the best time to plant their proposed gardens.
