London Plane Trees
We’ve had a very hot few weeks and the park is experiencing the effects of the extreme heat. The London Plane trees shed leaves prematurely to conserve water and protect themselves from dehydration. Parks Department employees have been very busy raking the whole park and clearing the leaves from the lawns.

CITIBIN!
THANK YOU, Councilmember Lincoln Restler, for securing funding for trash containerization and promoting public health and safety. Lincoln’s office worked with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and CITIBINS to have the bins installed this past week in Cadman. This will eliminate the food supply for the rats from the garbage bags waiting for pickup surrounding the park. The new CITIBINS were installed along the promenade a few months ago and met with tremendous success. The Cadman Park Conservancy is grateful that the next location chosen is Cadman Plaza Park. This proactive approach to an ongoing quality of life issue is greatly appreciated! Thank you to Councilmember Restler and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for this significant initiative..
Congratulations!
The Cadman Park Conservancy was honored last Tuesday evening, by the Historic Districts Council with a 2024 Grassroots Award. We are grateful to be recognized by one of the most prolific leading preservation organizations of NYC for our work. The Conservancy is extremely thankful for our successful partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and all of our community volunteers making this acknowledgment possible! A very special heartfelt thanks to the Brooklyn Eagle’s Mary Frost for covering this beautiful event.
