The Cadman Park Conservancy was honored last Tuesday evening, by the Historic Districts Council with a 2024 Grassroots Award. We are grateful to be recognized by one of the most prolific leading preservation organizations of NYC for our work. The Conservancy is extremely thankful for our successful partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and all of our community volunteers making this acknowledgment possible! A very special heartfelt thanks to the Brooklyn Eagle’s Mary Frost for covering this beautiful event.

Celebrate Juneteenth as we read books and learn more about the history and traditions of Jubilee Day.
Right by Juneteenth Grove. We will have chalk available for sidewalk chalk art.

Juneteenth and Eid al Adha

Hello Teens! Join us for our holiday celebration in the Juneteenth Grove at Cadman Park Plaza!
We will have colorful lanyards for Juneteenth bracelet making, and Henna to celebrate Eid al Adha!

Walking Tour
Saturday, June 8th at 10am
The Cadman Park Conservancy is partnering with Inside Out Tours:
Join us for a three-hour Juneteenth walking tour highlighting Black History and the Underground Railroad in Brooklyn. Our journey begins at the Juneteenth Grove in Cadman Plaza.
Walk with us to Downtown Brooklyn to learn about the abolitionists who fought against slavery in NYC!
Stand where history was made at Plymouth Church, known as the 'Grand Central Station' of the Underground Railroad, where enslaved people found refuge from bounty hunters in 19th-century New York, and a mock slave auction ignited abolitionist fervor.
Walk with us to DUMBO and the Brooklyn waterfront to discuss Brooklyn's early free Black community, which fought against discrimination and slavery and became pioneers in Black entrepreneurship and education!
Join us on Saturday June 8th at 10am in Juneteenth Grove.
There are a limited number of tickets. The ticket price is reduced by the generous support of Councilmember Lincoln Restler.

The Brooklyn Ballet

The Brooklyn Ballet will perform in Cadman Park, Juneteenth Grove at 6pm.
Experience the vibrant fusion of ballet and street dance with Brooklyn Ballet as they kick off our Juneteenth programming with a powerful, free performance. This multidisciplinary program highlight’s themes of perseverance, faith, community, and resilience, featuring the Brooklyn premiere of Still I Rise, inspired by Maya Angelou’s iconic poem. Join us for an unforgettable evening that honors the spirit of freedom and unity.
This is the Brooklyn Ballet’s first time performing in Cadman Plaza Park. We are delighted to be hosting this incredible ballet company. Join us for what we know will be a very special evening in Juneteenth Grove. Bring a blanket and sit on the athletic field!

On Sunday morning, May 19th the Conservancy was joined by many volunteers from the community, including from The Service Collective and students organized by Nate Price from Packer High School. In honor of Memorial Day 2024, we began planting our Memorial Garden on the east and west sides of the Brooklyn War Memorial.
