Last Tuesday afternoon, the Cadman Park Conservancy hosted the return of The Service Collective Community Club (TSCCC).  NYC Parks Department Gardener 1, Jessica Kulig planned the new garden areas, demonstrated the planting process and led the student volunteers with planting weigela and lavender plants around the flagpoles in front of the Brooklyn War Memorial.   The TSCCC had volunteered in Cadman a few weeks earlier, weeding and composting the soil in preparation of Tuesday’s planting. We all enjoyed working with Jess and grateful for her heartfelt guidance planning & planting of the flagpole gardens.  A special thanks to our friend, the extremely gifted gardener and longtime Conservancy board member Serhiy Mshanetskiy for collaborating with Jess, shopping the nurseries for the Conservancy to purchase the plants and delivering them to us on site. These areas are a collaborative, thoughtful planning process with the beginning of establishing beautiful flagpole gardens in front of the Brooklyn War Memorial.  Thank you VERY much to The Service Collective Community Club for volunteering with the Conservancy, for your uplifting spirit, hard work and continued support!  The time we spent together was memorable and fun.  Your kindness, volunteering to support our Veterans and the park community will be endure for seasons to come.  We hope you’ll come back and continue to cultivate the new gardens.
