Earth Day!
The Cadman Park Conservancy friends and neighbors enjoyed a sunny Earth Day in Cadman Plaza Park! Volunteers from St. Francis College, Packer High School, Plymouth Church and many more hard working community members, weeded and raked our Juneteenth Grove garden and Circle planter. The caretaking of our flower beds was a success in preparation for our mulching event scheduled for next Saturday morning. We planted on the east and west side, in shady areas of the park, an assortment of red, white and pink/lavender azaleas, blueish green hostas and an assortment of yellow, purple and lime green heucheras. A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful friends & gardeners, Conservancy board member Serhiy MShanetskiy and NYC Parks Department’s Anil Chandrakumar for their trek to the Long Island nurseries, selecting an exciting variety of plants and delivering them to the park for our event. Thank you to ALL all of our volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you!!! We hope that you enjoyed our morning together as much as we did. We’re looking forward to watching our garden grow. Thank you Mother Earth for the predicted rain Saturday evening and Sunday, nourishing and establishing our day’s planting. We are grateful.
