After school, on a November Friday afternoon, three Girl Scout troops: Daisy Brownie troop (K-3 grad), Juniors (4th & 5th graders) and Cadettes ( middle schoolers) and younger siblings joined the Conservancy and planted almost 1000 daffodil bulbs around the Brooklyn War Memorial!

Thank you to NYC Parks Department gardener Leonidas for picking out the perfect location for the Girl Scouts to plant around the memorial.

Serhiy, master gardener, Conservancy board member and leader of this special event described the afternoon best:
“Girl Scouts amazingly planted up to 1,000 Daffodil bulbs indeed: they brought their own 120 bulbs, plus used more than 800 CPC Daffodil bulbs. With 20 or so Girl Scouts in attendance and 4pm – 5.30pm planting time, this makes 1 bulb planted every 2 minutes. The Girl Scouts worked really hard and with great enthusiasm”.

Many thanks to the Girl Scouts for a wonderful daffodil planting ending after the sun went down! Thank you to the NYC Parks Department, thank you to New Yorkers 4 Parks and The Daffodil Project for the daffodil bulbs and continued support!
